Such a juicy post! I think I’ll repurpose an old book as a sketchbook too - so fun! Also, that photo with the blue lids or whatever they are reminds me of a spoof project I have in my head, where I take photos of garbage I see floating in Lake Ontario and then give them scientific names (like if it’s a Tim Horton’s coffee cup the name could be “Caffinatus amphibious”)

🙏Repurposed books as sketchbooks are the best! I'm going to do a Zoom workshop soon - (in the school holidays when I have a bit more time - and probably an early Saturday morning / Friday evening for you). I will try and co-ordinate times so we can all do all the things 🤣. The nest is a mating nest / ground for the Satin Bower Bird. The male makes this 'nest' as a display to attract the females - he collects all blue things. They are quite beautiful. I love the sound of your project too!! 💗🌻xxx

Oh, nature is so surprising isn’t it!

Looking forward to the workshop!

Yes!! I was very surprised by 2 large Brown snakes yesterday - OMG!!!! (deadly ones) My legs are still shaking- It's an absolute miracle Cedar walked over them without noticing and neither of us were bitten - Winter is over sadly. Beach walks from now on I think. Yikes! (I will chat to you about dates for workshop soon) 💗🌻xxx

Oh! I am glad none of you was bitten, what an unpleasant encounter, take care 😱❤️

It was extraordinary. I am utterly amazed we weren't bitten. I was walking slowly, gently and really connecting with the earth and the plants (I usually stomp a bit and am much louder to try and scare snakes away) - I wonder if they were mating? I've never seen 2 snakes that big together before (and I've seen LOTS of snakes here).

It was your lucky day. If they were mating, maybe they didn't care about you for once 😥

Ah, that meditation was *exactly* what I needed. Eased a big knot in my stomach. Aaaaaahhhhh!

Your repurposed book/sketchbook sure turns out better than my first try did! I had a big old coffee table book, with glossy pages, which I gessoed. Not a good time. Would not recommend. It was probably the paper itself that was the problem. I can see how regular reading book paper might be better.

🙏🏻Yes - I really needed that meditation too this last week. I am glad it helped 🧡. Glossy paper is not ideal for sketchbooks. I will give a few examples and work arounds in the Zoom workshop I am planning. 💗xxx

🙏Thankyou Hippo - I have been loving walking through the bush and taking photos the last few months. It might be time for more beach photo's from now on though (see my reply to Melissa's comment re snakes) - Eek!! I didn't stick around to take a photo of them yesterday.🧡xxx
