Personal Conversations in a Zoom Art Play Date:
Zoom Art Play Dates are a positive, supportive place to make art & hang out online with other artists & friends.
We have a lot of fun. Sometimes we forget that the session is being recorded, and can later be viewed by other people.
In such a relaxed session, it is very easy to say something we don’t want the whole world to hear.
For this reason, I have decided to open Zoom meetings 15 minutes earlier, and close 15 minutes later than the scheduled time.
This part won’t be recorded and so we can catchup on personal stuff and check in with each other then.
The actual recording time will be the scheduled meeting time.
During the recording time, we can still use the chat component of Zoom to type our thoughts and be more personal, or send links, etc. as this wont show up on the replay.
What do we talk about during recording time?
We get to talk about ALL THINGS ART.
During recording time, Conversations and questions relating to Art topics are encouraged.
Some examples of things we talk about include:
Art Materials we are currently using
Supplies we have purchased (and where from)
Favourite Art supplies
How we use a particular Art supply
How we store our Art Supplies
Favourite colours
Inspiring Artists and their Instagram / website etc.
The process of making art
How we stay inspired to make art
Our latest Art Adventure (Plein air or at the Kitchen table)
Our art practice - how we stay consistent (or not)
Where we make art (studio, outside, kitchen table, etc.)
Using technology in our art practice
What art means to you
Zoom Art Play Dates are a great place to learn.
Examples of Questions you may want to ask:
How do you layer mixed media materials (i.e. pencil over gouache, pen over watercolour, etc.)?
How do you mix ‘that’ colour?
What tips do you have for painting fast?
How often do you paint / make art?
These tips are to help keep us all on track.
Our conversations become sources of learning and inspiration for others.
Lets go sharpen our pencils, chose our palettes and get ready for our next Art Play Date.
